Overthinking problem
Firstly, there is a chance if you are on the path of becoming an intellectual/pseudo-intellectual person (pseudo-intellectual, Krishna Kumar ne add karwaya hai), you may come across the state when you stop seeing goodness in everything, you can't be just happy, you just question everything. You see a child playing happily, instead of seeing his/her happiness, you think 'wait for a few years, all your happiness will turn into a burden, you Happy looking child'. It's basically like getting into the nitty-gritty of a song instead of enjoying its flow, music, and emotions. Don't get too involved in your intellect otherwise, you'll lose the charm of the process. Seeing everything in a negative sense happens when your own life is messed up. You may or may not face the above-mentioned problem but I'm pretty sure that every intellectual person faces the problem of OVERTHINKING, others also face it, but an intellectual person is guaranteed to face it. Overthinking has become the misery of our lives, we don't even know why we are thinking, but it's becoming ever-present, either we are stuck in the grooves of the past or creating the road map for our future. Unnecessarily we are wasting our energy and most of us have no control over it. Recently, I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me that it takes him 2-3 hours every night to fall asleep. Just imagine the misery of his life and others like him who can't fall asleep within 5-10 mins. Almost everyone around us is suffering this misery, for some it's less and for others, it has become their lives. A girl with 100 lovers is thinking that she has no real friends, everyone just wants to be with her because of how she looks, not because of her character, a guy yearning to get back to his ex, another one just overthinking what his life would've been if his paycheck would've been some X amount. This overthinking reaches its peak when you are about to enter a relationship or when it ends, it's like a ringing bell that is constantly annoying you and making you unable to concentrate on anything. The only time when people are not overthinking these days is when they are in front of a screen, watching Netflix or youtube. Avoiding this problem is not gonna solve it for you, you need to get control of your brain.
Coming to the hardest skill a person can gain, sitting idle. This may feel easy to few, believe me, it's not. I've tried a lot of the things in my life and this I consider to be the toughest among them. Let me expand on sitting idle, there are two aspects to sitting idle, firstly the physical aspect and second is the mental aspect. Let's try an experiment, choose a quiet place, switch off all the electronics devices, and sit with your legs crossed, eyes closed and hands placed in your lap. Now, just focus on your breath and see for how long you can keep your mind wandering to the other thoughts, I bet, in seconds your mind will start wandering off instead of focusing on your breath, apart from that, you'll constantly feel an urge to scratch some or the other part of your body. Try this, if you are able to sit even for 2mins without a single movement in your mind and body, you are a happy, and calm person. Let me also throw some light on what problems you face when you sit for this practice, constant itching, irregular breaths(some will be deeper, some will be shallower, try to maintain a steady breath) and wandering of your mind (try counting of numbers while being aware of your breath to keep your mind away from distraction). I feel that almost everyone needs to practice this calmness so that they can understand themselves better and stop getting these urges of needing someone or something in their life to be happy. The true quantitative measure of your happiness is how quickly and well you sleep in your life. When you are truly happy, you'll sleep like a sloth.
